Creative Media Center Digital Audio, Video and Photographic Equipment Checkouts

CMC Digital Checkout Policies

Schedule Information:
• The Checking Out and Checking In of equipment is limited to Open Lab times.

• The CMC Information Desk can be reached during Open Lab times only at 404-413-5278. Please check the Open Lab Schedule before calling in order to avoid interrupting classes that are session.

Who Can Checkout Equipment:
Students must be currently enrolled in classes within the School of Art & Design and have been accepted into an Art & Design concentration of study including the studio, art history, or art education programs.

• Only (1) camera, video camera, or recorder can be loaned per checkout. Multiple checkouts can not be granted simultaneously to the same person except in the case of Art & Design graduate students who are paying proportional deposit(s).

• Tripods, microphones, mic boom poles, and other accessories can be loaned at the same time as a camera.

• ALL students MUST provide current copies of ALL of the required identification and enrollment information before equipment will be checked out to them.

4. Current GSU email address,
5. Current GoSolar generated list of their current course registration and major.

• All of these items can be generated on site in the CMC lab, by scanning your IDs, as well as accessing GoSolar online and printing the images and information using the CMC's B/W HP2300 Laser Printer. Otherwise, students should plan to use any standard copy machine. Note: the CMC does not have a copy machine.

• Art & Design Faculty may checkout equipment within standard checkout guidelines during Open Lab times. A photocopy of the faculty member's ID along with all other standard checkout paperwork is required for this purpose.

Checkout Periods:
Equipment must be returned by the person to whom the equipment was Checked Out.

• Each Check Out period lasts 3 days as noted on the CMC schedule.

• Checkouts can not be extended or renewed for a 2nd checkout period.

• All Equipment returns must remain in the CMC inventory until the following day's Open Lab period and be available for other student checkouts before it can be checked out again to the same person.

• Equipment can be returned early during any Open Lab session.

Late Fees, Damages, and Loss:
• Students are responsible for ALL items loaned.

• Failure to return ALL items from a checkout will result in a late fee. This includes, but is not limited to, cables, manuals, cases, covers, etc.

• Also, failure to return ALL items from a checkout will require to the student to pay for the items' replacement costs.

$10 Late fee will be applied to each day that a device has not been returned.

• GSU Panther Cash can not be accepted for payment but checks and money orders are acceptible.

• Payment in full, using a personal check, is required for late fees. Checks must be made out to Georgia State University. Notations required on the check include: Georgia driver license w/expiration date, local phone number and local address.

Late fee payments must be submitted to the CMC during open Lab times.

• No additional checkouts can occur until the late fee and replacement costs are resolved.

• Students can not personally purchase or provide replacement items.

• After 1 calandar week, unpaid fees will be posted as a unresolved debt to the student's GSU Student Account.

Special/Other:
• CMC 3-Chip Video cameras (Canon GL2s, XL1s, or XL2) are restricted to Art Design graduate students and require a $500 deposit. Deposits are held securely by the CMC Manager and can be picked up by appointment only during weekday Open Lab times 9 am until 5:15 pm. Unretrieved deposit checks are shredded at the end of the semester.

• Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design students, faculty, and staff who have requests for information that is not addressed within this web site can contact the CMC at cmcinfo@gsu.edu.

• This equipment bundle contains variety of sound processing and 16 channel mixing equipment for use by Art & Design faculty within the Art & Humanities Building. Checkout must be arranged during Open Lab times.
